Nick Jonas returned to “Saturday Night Live” this weekend but this time he took on hosting duty.
Nick showed off his his comedy chops, his biceps, his singing skills, a lot of wigs and more with a handful of sketches and two amazing performances.
First up, Nick took the stage for his opening monologue which saw a guest appearance from his brother Kevin Jonas and addressed Jonas Brothers break up rumors. He also performed “Drink With Me” with a twist from Les Miserables.

Next up, Nick returned to his Disney roots…sort of. In a parody on Cinderella, Nick played Prince Charming who shows up at Cinderella’s house with the glass slipper in hopes of finding his princess. Things take quite a turn though when they all realize the glass slipper is a little too small and can only fit one person…or er…creature.
In one of this week’s digital shorts, SNL decided to make another catchy song about a popular guilty pleasure. Earlier this season they made a song about searching on Zillow and this time they took on everyone’s obsession with true crime and cult shows.
In the “Mirror Workout” sketch, two buddies decide to try a few different instructors on their workout mirror. They find a few they like, including Nick’s character Nathan but then things go wrong when they discover someone who doesn’t seem like a workout instructor. (PS. Anyone else get a kick out of how Nick plays quite a few characters named Nate/Nathan – previously in Camp Rock, Kingdom)
Nick then headed to the amusement park with some pals who had to decide who would ride with who on the flume ride. Someone gets stuck riding with the life size “Joe” doll from Pixar’s Soul.
In another digital short, Nick and his buddies head to a cabin for a bachelor party where some strippers come to spice up the party. Before they can even start to perform, the guys all bust out in an interesting song about…well…their boners.
In the first of Nick’s performances, he performed his latest single “Spaceman” for the very first time. We love that he kept with the theme of the song for his outfit.
Nick and Kate McKinnon then tackled what dating might be like post-Covid times which included a very interesting version of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”
Then we were so happy to see one of our favorite new sketches return – The Dionne Warwick Talk Show. In the sketch, “Dionne” interviews “stars” like the Weeknd, Dua Lipa and of course, Nick Jonas (as himself). She decides to ask all the important questions, like what do “Cake By the Ocean” and “What a Man Gotta Do” really mean…and then one not so appropriate question.
Nick’s second musical performance was of “This Is Heaven” from his upcoming album Spaceman. The song will be available on March 4 ahead of his album’s March 12 release.
And finally, to close out Nick’s stint on SNL, here’s the cut for time sketch – Home Makeover. In the sketch, Nick and Heidi play a makeover TV duo who redo a bachelor pad.
We have to say, Nick did a really good job in his hosting debut. There were a few sketches like “Amusement Park” and “Bachelor Party” that weren’t really a hit for us, but Nick did very well and held his own on the show. Plus, his singing vocals were flawless. We hope he gets another shot at hosting in the future.
In the meantime, you can catch Nick on the new season of “The Voice” starting March 1, in Chaos Walking out March 5 and then his new album out March 12.
Which SNL sketches from this week were your favorite and least favorite? How do you think Nick did as host?
