Joshua Bassett’s debut EP will be out soon and it will be missing a track that fans were excited to hear.

The “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” star previously revealed that he had recorded a duet with (his rumored girlfriend) Sabrina Carpenter. The song is called “We Both Know” and whether they are dating or not, fans were just excited to hear their two voices sing together. Well, when Joshua released his EP track list last week, fans were quick to notice a song called “Telling Myself” had replaced “We Both Know.” So is there a reason?

Joshua explained the omission to Billboard saying, “I didn’t want my EP to be overshadowed by some other narrative that people were trying to make. I really want the focus to be on the art instead of some of the talk and the chatter. You shouldn’t live to please everybody, but at the same time, there are ways to be sensitive to situations where maybe [‘We Both Know’] has a better chance at a different time.”

We totally understand where Joshua is coming from but we do hope he releases the duet in the future. Until then, Joshua is proud to share the EP he’s been working on for a while.

“It’s the most proud I’ve ever been of a body of work,” he also told Billboard. “I showed myself that I can really do more than what I thought. It’s got me all over it — people will be able to feel that when they listen to it.”

We are excited to hear Joshua’s EP which is out March 12. You can pre-order it here. Read the rest of Joshua’s interview where he talks about his reaction to SNL’s driver’s license sketch and more over on Billboard.com.
