At long last, Oakes Fegley & Laura Marano’s movie The War with Grandpa is hitting theaters.

The two star alongside legends like Robert De Niro, Jane Seymour & Cheech Marin in the hilarious family film. The movie follows sixth-grader Peter (Oakes Fegley), who is pretty much your average kid — he likes gaming, hanging with his friends and his beloved pair of Air Jordans. But when his recently widowed grandfather Ed (De Niro) moves in with Peter’s family, the boy is forced to give up his most prized possession of all, his bedroom. Unwilling to let such an injustice stand, Peter devises a series of increasingly elaborate pranks to drive out the interloper, but Grandpa Ed won’t go without a fight. Soon, the friendly combatants are engaged in an all-out war with side-splitting consequences.

One of our favorite parts of the movie is how Laura & Oakes’ characters’ little sister is obsessed with Christmas. So, when we chatted with the duo, we had to know what funny obsessions they had as kids. They also told us what it was really like working with De Niro. Check out the full interview above.

The War with Grandpa hits theaters October 9, 2020.
