Netflix has been on a roll reviving the teen romcom genre. The latest film that we’re obsessed with is The Half of It.
The film stars Leah Lewis, Alexxis Lemire & Daniel Diemer and tells the story of Ellie Chu who agrees to write love letters for a popular jock. What she thinks will be a job for some easy cash ends up getting more complicated when she becomes friends with the jock and falls for his crush. Think of it as a mix of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, Love, Simon and Cyrano de Bergerac.
The movie has already built a lot of buzz ever since the first trailer dropped as many praised its LGBTQ+ representation. We chatted with the cast all about their reaction to the fan reactions and who they’d trust from the cast to write love letters for them. We also chatted with writer/director Alice Wu about the casting of the film and more.
