DC is all about the girl power with their upcoming superhero movies and we’re not mad about it!
With the upcoming Wonder Woman and Gotham City Sirens movies on the slate, DC is adding to their female superhero films by announcing a standalone Batgirl movie according to Variety. Joss Whedon is nearing a deal to write, direct and produce the untitled flick which will focus on the Barbara Gordon incarnation of the superheroine.
Batgirl has never gotten her own movie but variations of her have appeared in Batman & Robin (played by Alicia Silverstone) and most recently The LEGO Batman Movie. The project is said to also feature other characters from the world of Gotham and according to EW will use the “New 52” version of the character as a starting point.
It seems like fans are ecstatic by this news and with Whedon taking the reigns, we have a feeling it’s going to be good. We mean, Whedon is responsible for The Avengers over at Marvel so he knows what he’s doing.
