Selena Gomez is making her return to TV — sort of!
The 23-year-old has been attached to star in a big screen adaptation of the novel 13 Reasons Why since 2011. Since the announcement, no news was ever heard of the project until now and we’re excited!
According to Variety, Netflix is in final negotiations do a 13-episode miniseries based on the book with Selena set to star. She will also serve as an exec producer.
The book tells the story of a boy named Clay (yet to be cast) and follows him through an emotional night when he receives a shoe box of cassette tapes from his late classmate and crush Hannah (Gomez), after she recently committed suicide. On the tapes, which are mailed with instructions to pass along from one student to another, Hannah explains to twelve peers how they each played a role in her death, by giving thirteen reasons explaining why she took her life.
The miniseries comes from Anonymous Content and Paramount TV with a pilot penned by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Brian Yorkey.
We are excited for this Netflix miniseries, are you?! Who would you cast as Clay and the other characters?
