The 1st Annual Lovato Scholarship Benefit raised funds for Demi’s treatment scholarship which helps give treatment for substance abuse and mental illness to people who can’t afford it. The event was held at the Troubadour and featured a night of music and inspirational speeches. Bea Miller, Kelly Rowland, Sirah & Christina Perri all took the stage to perform. Christina and Sirah also shared their personal stories about their struggles throughout the years. Joe Jonas dj’ed throughout the night and Lance Bass also took the stage to share his story about his battle with depression and coming out. One of the highlights of the night was when one of the recipients of Demi’s scholarship shared her moving story with the crowd.

Demi took to the stage at two different times throughout the night. The first time she performed “Warrior” and her song “Believe in Me” from her debut album. As she was about to leave the stage, Perez Hilton surprised her on stage and asked her a few questions and took some questions from the audience. When Perez asked Demi about posting a photo of her and Wilmer kissing, Demi answered shyly “I’m in love.” She was then asked where Wilmer was and she said he couldn’t be there. Low and behold, Perez then surprised Demi with Wilmer who got off a plane straight from Toronto to be there. The crowd then sang “happy birthday” to Demi to celebrate her 3rd year sober and Wilmer shared some super cute words about his longtime girlfriend.
