Dylan O’Brien channels his inner James Dean in his photoshoot for the September issue of Teen Vogue.
The 22-year-old graces the pages of the mag to promote his upcoming film The Maze Runner. In the behind-the-scenes look at his photoshoot, we get to see Dylan get a little dirt on his face in a shoot he describes as “sort of throwback grungy, rock, River Phoenix-y, James Dean road trip.” Also, how lucky is that model Charlotte?
In the BTS video, Dylan also discusses the differences between his beloved “Teen Wolf” character Stiles and Thomas, the hero of The Maze Runner. Check out some more highlights from Dylan’s interview.
On filming ‘The Maze Runner’: “We have eight weeks and 30 million dollars. If we pull it off, people will be like, ‘How the hell did they do that?’…This will forever be one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.”
On Thomas in the film: “In my mind, he’s the quintessential hero. Thomas discovers he has this courage inside of him that he learns how to access—it’s really fun to watch.”
On wanting to be a sports broadcaster: Before acting, Dylan considered becoming a sports broadcaster for his favorite baseball team – the New York Mets. “I ended up receiving a surprise scholarship for sports broadcasting from YouTube videos I’d posted. It’s so crazy how I ended up acting.”
The Maze Runner opens September 19 and be sure to pick up the new issue of Teen Vogue on newsstands August 19.
