Zendaya has lined up her next project!
In addition to this month’s DCOM “Zapped” and her own Disney Channel show, “K.C. Undercover,” Zendaya will be playing one of her favorite artists, Aaliyah, in a new Lifetime biopic.
Lifetime will be making a biopic on the short life of singer Aaliyah who was just 22 years old when she died in a plane crash in 2001. The film, tentatively titled Aaliyah: Princess of R&B, will be based off of Christopher Farley’s bestselling biography Aaliyah: More Than a Woman.
Zendaya definitely has the acting, singing, and dancing chops and she is such a big fan of Aaliyah that she even dressed up as her at the 2013 Keep A Child Alive’s 20th Annual Dream Halloween.
The film is being produced by Aaliyah Productions, Inc., with Howard Braunstein (The Informant!) and Debra Martin Chase (The Princess Diaries) serving as executive producers. Bradley Walsh (Turn the Beat Around) will direct from a script written by Michael Elliot (Brown Sugar).
