Dylan O’Brien covers the new issue of Fashionisto magazine where he models some funky fashions and talks about “Teen Wolf” and The Maze Runner.
The 22-year-old has leaped to fame over the past few years thanks to playing the hilarious Stiles on MTV’s “Teen Wolf.” Since then, he’s landed big screen roles in movies like The Internship, The First Time and the upcoming film The Maze Runner. Stiles is one of our favorite characters on TV and because he’s so loveable, he now often gets recognized. In Dylan’s interview, he recalls one of his favorite fan moments over the years.
“There are always these stories, really endearing stories [of meeting fans],” he said. He then went on to talk about a teenage boy who was with his friends at a pizza parlor and “freaked out” over seeing Dylan. “I thought that was one of the coolest things ever because I don’t know if I would have had the balls to do that in front of my fifteen year old [guy] friends.”
People often wonder if Dylan is anything like Stiles and it turns out he isn’t completely like him. “I am actually innately shy and I am not as quick as he is to be confident in what he has to face.” As far as similarities go, “the way he feels about his friends and how he is loyal to them…and [how he] would do anything for them.”
Next up, Dylan brings the character of Thomas to life in the big screen adaptation of The Maze Runner. The book has a big following which can mean a lot of pressure. Just look at what Shailene Woodley and Jennifer Lawrence went through. “I haven’t really felt any real pressure from the fan base because so far they have just been so positive with everything we’re doing. It just feels like they have been excited and unconditionally supportive rather than hostile and judgmental,” Dylan said. So is he worried what fans will think of him as Thomas? “I’m not really worried at all. I’m excited for them to finally get a live action version of a book they all love. It’s really cool to be a part of it. Like the coolest thing ever.”
