Did you know that Dylan O’Brien almost lost out on the role of Thomas in The Maze Runner? No, it wasn’t because of another actor, it was because of his hair!
The 22-year-old is featured in Nylon Magazine’s May Young Hollywood issue where he shared, “when I went in, I was coming from a day off Teen Wolf, so I had spiky Stiles hair. I did the audition and never heard back.” He continued, “Turns out the director thought my hair was too flashy.”
Who knew that hair could be so crucial to casting? He also opened up about the comparisons of the film to another hit dystopian series, The Hunger Games. Turns out he likes to compare the movie to a more classic novel. “It’s sort of arrogant,” he says of the comparison to THG. “And honestly, we don’t look at it that way. We look at it like a modern-day Lord of the Flies.” Lets just hope no one has to resort to cannibalism.
