The stars of The Fault In Our Stars bring to life the beloved characters of Hazel and Gus in the upcoming adaptation of John Green’s book. “I tried to write the funniest, most honest love story I could about these kids who were living with a difficult disease. I never thought it would be popular,” Green tells EW of the book’s success. “I certainly never imagined it would be a movie.”

Green spent a lot of time on set of the film and was very happy with seeing his book come to life. “Shailene has become Hazel to me. Ansel has become Gus,” he says. “The feeling I’ve had consistently is this deep weird joy.”
