One of the movies on our must list this year is The Maze Runner starring Dylan O’Brien, Will Poulter, Kaya Scodelario and more.
Fans at 2014 Wondercon were in for a treat when Dylan and Will were joined by author James Dashner and director Wes Ball at the annual convention. The quartet sat down for a panel and press conference and also debuted some brand new footage from the film. Fans got their first glimpse at a scene that is hinted at in the trailer but is not actually in the book.
According to MTV, the scene is when Thomas (O’Brien) and Minho (Ki Hong Lee), explore further into the maze. “Their exploration is interrupted when a scanner senses their presence. They know that the monstrous Grievers who stalk the Maze are close behind; but it’s not the Grievers they have to worry about.”
Director Wes Ball said it was important to include this scene even though it’s not in the book because he “felt it was important to include something that really gave viewers an idea of what the maze is: not only is the maze a presence in the film, it’s one of the monsters, as well.”
