Zac Efron has lined up his new project which puts him in a club that includes Tom Cruise, Matthew McConaughey and Matt Damon.
Zac will be starring in and producing the legal drama The Associate based on the novel by John Grisham. The novel was released in 2009 and follows a Yale Law School grad (Efron) who is blackmailed by a group of criminals. He’s told he must take a job at the world’s largest law firm, where he’ll be spying on their work in a dispute between two powerful defense contractors worth billions.
This isn’t the first time that The Associate has been eyed for the big screen. Paramount originally tried to develop it in 2008, with Shia LaBeouf attached to star. Previous adaptation of Grisham’s books include The Firm (Tom Cruise), The Pelican Brief, The Client, A Time to Kill (Matthew McConaughey), The Rainmaker (Matt Damon) and The Runaway.
