jessemccartney-ep-111813We have worn out our iPod playing Jesse McCartney’s latest single, “Back Together,” on repeat and soon we will have new songs to enjoy.

The 26-year-old broke the news to Billboard that he will be releasing a four song EP titled In Technicolor Part 1 on December 10. Jesse shared with Billboard, “I’ve been busy, but I’m finally ready to release some new music. More than anything, [the EP] is just a preview of what the full-length is going to be next year. I want to put something out for the fans — they’ve been more than patient. And I wanted to give them a taste of [new music], because the style of the new album is so different from the previous album.”

Did you hear that? We’ll be getting a new album next year (hopefully April or May)!!! The lead song from the EP, “Back Together,” has a fun old school vibe and it looks like we will be hearing more of it based on the title of the EP, which he describes as “authentic 70s disco-pop record.” So why did he choose In Technicolor as the title for his long awaited EP? “In my mind, we’re all on this planet for one reason, and that’s to find somebody to share your life with, that sees you for what you’re worth,” he says. “I feel like that’s what colors your world, and everything else is black and white. When ‘In Technicolor’ was written, it sounded like a really strong title that would set up the rest of the songs on the album, which really deal with the ins and outs of my relationships with women.”

Jesse has also parted ways with his longtime label, Hollywood Records, which is home to Selena Gomez & Demi Lovato. He has set up his own label, Eight0Eight Records, and will release his full length album in partnership with INGrooves distribution.

“It’s been amazing and very liberating,” says McCartney of his new label set-up. “I enjoyed being with Hollywood Records — I was with them for 10 years, and I made a lot of amazing relationships — but at this point in my career, it just felt like it made a lot more sense to do it all in-house and on my own.”

We definitely cannot wait to hear more music from Jesse. If you missed his acoustic performance of “Back Together” at the Citadel Outlets tree lighting, watch it below. For more on Jesse’s Billboard feature, go here.
