Wednesday night was a big night for Taylor Swift!
The 23-year-old added more awards to her shelf at the 2013 Country Music Awards in Nashville. Taylor took home awards for musical event of the year and music video of the year for “Highway Don’t Care,” her collaboration with Tim McGraw and Keith Urban.
In addition, Taylor received a very special award. She became only the second person to ever be awarded the Pinnacle award. Garth Brooks is the only other recipient. The Award recognizes an artist who has achieved both national and international prominence through concert performances and record sales at levels unique in Country Music. The artist has also attained the highest degree of recognition within the broad expanse of music worldwide.
After the show, Taylor admitted she thought it was going to be one of the awards they don’t show on TV or it would just be a regular presentation. Instead, she was in for a huge surprise during the show. Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Keith Urban, George Strait and Brad Paisley all took the stage to present the award. In the beginning of her career, Taylor opened for all of the amazing acts. In addition, Justin Timberlake, Reese Witherspoon, Julia Roberts, Ellen Degeneres and more congratulated Taylor in a sweet video package.
Another highlight of the show came when Taylor performed a stripped down version of “Red” alongside Alison Krauss, Vince Gill, Edgar Meyer, Sam Bush, and Eric Darken. You can get that version on iTunes here.
