The Hollywood Bowl was transformed into the world of Chicago on Friday night for night 1 of the musical’s 3-night run.
The production is directed by Brooke Shields and features an all-star cast including Samantha Barks, Stephen Moyer, Ashlee Simpson, Drew Carey and Lucy Lawless. The cast and crew had just 10 days to prepare for the three night performance and from watching in the audience, you wouldn’t be able to tell. The show was amazing!
Samantha and Ashlee were the standouts with Sam commanding the role of Velma Kelly while Ashlee reprised her role as Roxie Hart. Stephen and Lucy were nice surprises for us as we didn’t know they could sing and dance. And, as always, Drew Carey provided some nice comic relief and brought heart to the role of Amos.
