The Wanted’s youngest member, Nathan Sykes, had to take a hiatus from the group earlier this year to have throat surgery and he finally returned to the stage with the group this past week.

Nathan sat down with E! News for his first US interview since undergoing the surgery and he opened up about being scared he would never be able to sing again.

“I was pretty devastated when I found out I had to have surgery,” Nathan shared. “I was worried about my voice before but when I was told it was surgery it was quite a shock to the system. I had a bit of a panic attack before the operation. I remember looking up at the surgeon and thinking, ‘my future is literally in your hands and if you get this wrong, that’s me done. My life is going to change.'”

In addition, the UK singer opened up about wanting to squash those One Direction feud rumors for once and for all.

After receiving a tweet from Liam Payne’s sister, Nathan said, “If I bumped into them, I’d try my hardest to be nice and try and get rid of this supposed feud.”
