jaketaustin-glamoholic-51813Jake T Austin shows off his New York pride in this new shot from Glamoholic Magazine’s May Issue.

In the issue, the 18-year-old chats about his new ABC Family show “The Fosters,” moving into more mature roles and his film work. Check out a few highlights.

On the difference between Jesus on “The Fosters” and his previous characters: Jesus and Mariana are twins who who have been estranged from their biological mother since birth. This character enabled me to explore new depths as an actor. A role with such a unique backstory demands a real, raw performance, and I enjoy the challenge of trying to deliver that every day I come into work.

On working on animated projects like Khumba 3D and Rio 2: Working on animated projects allows an artist to truly express themselves through voice. It’s so much fun. I enjoyed working on Rio and I can’t wait for Rio 2 to come out next year.

On moving on from Disney to more mature roles: I have been incredibly fortunate throughout my career and have been blessed to work with some amazing people. As an actor, I’m so excited about this new chapter of my life, starting a new project and embarking on a new journey with a challenging role. Nothing about me has changed since my last series. My family and those around me will always keep me grounded. I will maintain control of who I am and who I always have been, regardless of what I am working on.
