Fresh off her return from an amazing Oscar performance, Samantha Barks has already started work on her next film!
Samantha will star alongside Susan Boyle (in her film debut!), Hans Matheson and Lesley Manville in The Christmas Candle. The movie is an adaptation of Max Lucado’s novel which isset in 1890 and tells a tale of angels, candles and Christmas wishes.
Samantha said of beginning work on the project, “Having just landed from the Academy Awards, I had an hour to unpack and repack and get to set. I’m very excited to be part of The Christmas Candle, and I’m loving every second.”
In other exciting Sam news, it looks like she might get the chance to reprise her role as Nancy in Oliver if Cameron Mackintosh has his way! The Les Miserables star wrapped up her run in the UK tour production just before heading to the Oscars and the Daily Mail is reporting that Mackintosh wants her for the possible Broadway revival of the show. He his hoping to bring the story to the big screen and have Stephen Daldry direct, but before then, Mackintosh wants to revive Oliver! on Broadway with Sam. With the success of the Les Miserables movie, we kind of think this is a great idea, especially if Sam is starring in it!
