Jennifer Lawrence will be taking the stage at the Screen Actors Guild Awards as more than hopefully a winner. She has been announced as one of the presents for the awards show on January 27.
In addition, Jennifer’s Silver Linings Playbook co-star Bradley Cooper as well as Les Miserables stars Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman will present. Sigourney Weaver and Justin Timberlake round out the first batch of presenters.
Jennifer, who will be hosting Saturday Night Live this week, is currently in NYC and stopped by the Late Show with David Letterman last night where she talked about not having a twitter and she cleared up what she meant by “I beat Meryl” in her Golden Globes speech.
“It was a quote from First Wives’ Club. Bette Midler was talking about a globe, I can’t believe nobody’s ever done it before. She said, ‘Look what it says: I Beat Meryl.’ It was so perfect, and I said it, and I had no idea Lindsay Lohan was going to take it to the Twitterverse — is that what it’s called? I’m not on Twitter. But Twitter is very upset.”
She continued, “Is that what that’s turned into, I don’t like Meryl Streep? As if I’ve had my eyes on getting that girl forever, and I was like, ‘Finally! I knew it would happen one day!’. I wanted to make a public statement, like, ‘Hey idiots, it’s a quote from a movie, and it’s Meryl Streep.'”
Jennifer is definitely a Meryl fan and has been vocal about it. She even confessed to a magazine she once interrupted talking to Bill Maher to stare at Meryl entering the room.
