It looks like the casting for Divergent is heating up!
Last we heard, Brenton Thwaites, Lucas Till, Jack Reynor and Luke Bracey were in the running to star opposite Shailene Woodley in the movie adaptation of the best selling book. According to Variety, Summit is getting closer to finding the male lead to take on the role of Four and it looks like Lucas’ name is still in the mix!
Lucas, as well as Alex Pettyfer and Jeremy Irvine will test for the role later this week. Lucas and Alex are no strangers to action franchises. Lucas starred as Havoc in X-Men: First Class and Alex took on the lead role in I Am Number Four. Jeremy is best known for his breakout role in 2011’s War Horse.
Sources tell Variety that there is no front-runner as of yet, but they add that Lucas already having tested once might give him a slight advantage.
Set in a futuristic dystopia, Divergent tells the story of a teenager who seeks to break free from her homogeneous society that divides people based on human traits. She leaves her faction and joins a rival group, where she falls for a young man.
Four is described as having “a spare upper lip, and a full lower lip. His eyes are so deep-set that his eyelashes touch the skin under his eyebrows, and they are dark blue, a dreaming sleeping, waiting color. His voice is deep, and it rumbles. He smirks. He has a stillness about him….His voice is low and smooth and almost soothing…[his eyes are] a shade of blue is peculiar, so dark it is almost black…He is muscular, nothing on his body yields. His hair is dark, almost black, especially when he cuts it short.”
Which of these three do you think would make the best “Four”? Would you cast someone else?
