Lucy Hale recently signed a recording contract with Hollywood Records to put out a Country album and we are excited!

The “Pretty Little Liars” star recently sat down with MTV News to chat about the exciting announcement. If you’ve followed Lucy for a while, then you know she started out singing and even was on the short-lived reality show “American Juniors.” So why did she want to go country?

“I told [Hollywood Records head Ken Bunt I wanted to sing] country, so I’m going to do a country/pop album, and I couldn’t be more excited,” she said. “I grew up in Tennessee, so that’s always been my heart and soul. It’s hard to come across a true country fan in L.A., but it’s true that the fans are so loyal, once you’re in their circle, you’re in for your entire career. It just really speaks to me. Country music has so much soul and is so heartfelt. I think it’s a perfect fit for me. I think it will surprise people.”

If you caught Lucy in A Cinderella Story: Once Upon A Time last year, then you know she has the pipes.

Another interesting project that has had Lucy’s name swirling around is the controversial 50 Shades of Grey. MTV made sure to ask her what she thinks about being involved with that project as well.

“People have said that [I’ve been suggested for the role], but people have also said [I could play] the little sister, which I think could make sense, because I look a little young for Ana, but God, what a big role to take on,” she said. “I’m really curious to see how it’s all going to [play out].”

“I definitely am ready to take a step and do something a bit more risky, absolutely, but it’s a fine line,” she said. “I don’t know what that fine line is, but I’m definitely ready to explore a darker side of my acting abilities.”
