Ian Somerhalder may play a heartless vampire on “The Vampire Diaries,” but in real-life, he has one of the biggest hearts around.
Last year, Ian started his own foundation, IS Foundation, with the mission to empower, educate and collaborate with people and projects to positively impact the planet and its creatures.
To celebrate Earth Day, Ian participated in a number of events including visiting Compton High School’s Recycling Club, spearheading the “Let’s Get Dirty” beach cleanup in Santa Monica, and hosting the Influence Affair dinner.
Ian’s co-stars Nina Dobrev, Maggie Grace, Claire Holt, and Kayla Ewell, as well as Cassie Scerbo and Julian Morris came out to support. The event was an intimate and exclusive gathering of tastemakers, influencers and celebrities all in support of the foundation’s efforts to improve the environment and the world we live in. The Influence Affair also celebrated ISF’s collaborative Get Dirty where you live, work & play initiative with the California Coastal Commission and Heal the Bay in the hopes of creating cleaner beaches and a cleaner state.
Guests enjoyed an evening of cocktails with VeeV Life, a dinner menu by one of LA’s top chefs, Made By Meg and dessert by Fantasy Frosting. Sponsors include Audi, Coca-Cola, Honest Tea, Smart Water and YogaVeda Beverage.
We had a chance to chat with Ian, Nina and more on the red carpet where we asked them for tips on how to go green. Find out what they told us below.
