Demi Lovato made headlines when she entered treatment for many issues including an eating disorder. Since then, Demi has made an amazing recovery and has even returned to Timberline Knolls to speak about her experience.
Demi has since left her Disney Channel show behind, but today she took to her twitter to lash out at her former network because some of the shows have made a joke out of eating disorders. Demi tweeted, “I could just eat you up, well if I ate” – Disney Chanel’s Shake It Up…. What are we promoting here? #notfunnyATALL. I find it really funny how a company can lose one of their actress’ from the pressures of an EATING DISORDER and yet still make joke about…..that very disease….. #nice.”
She also added, “And is it just me or are the actress’ getting THINNER AND THINNER…. I miss the days of RAVEN, and LIZZIE MCGUIRE.”
After seeing the tweets, Disney Channel took to their own twitter to respond to the matter. They wrote, “We hear you & are pulling both episodes as quickly as possible & reevaluating them. It’s NEVER our intention to make light of eating disorders!”
