It’s so hard to imagine anyone other than Kristen Stewart in the role of Bella Swan in The Twilight Saga, but it looks like she wasn’t the first choice for the franchise!
Michelle Trachtenberg has revealed she lost out on the role of Bella because of scheduling complications. The “Gossip Girl” star was first approached by a casting agent in the first Twilight film’s early production stages but because she was already locked into her contract with “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” she had to pass on the part, which eventually went to then-newcomer Kristen Stewart.
She tells Us Weekly, “I was actually supposed to star in that (Twilight), but I was on Buffy at the time… I’ve known (director) Catherine Hardwicke since the movie Thirteen… I guess schedules never worked out.”
Also, did you know that “90210” star Matt Lanter was one of the final guys in the running for Edward Cullen? Can you imagine how the movies would have been different with Michelle and Matt as the leads?
If you could recast Twilight, who would you cast as the leads?
