One of the celebrities featured on the show is Perez Hilton We had the chance to ask the famous blogger/music expert about the show and what he was like when he was 17.

What made you want to get involved with “When I Was 17”?
Perez: It seemed like a great opportunity to share some hopefully inspiring stories with young people.

What clubs/activities were you involved in when you were 17?
Perez: I was involved in a lot of creative, afterschool opportunities. But most of my attention was devoted to acting.

How would you describe your style?
Perez: My style was non-existent. I didn’t’ even shop for clothes when I was 17. I would just wear the clothes my mom bought me or outfits I received as gifts from family and friends.

Did you fit into a certain clique?
Perez: Yes, looking back at it, most of my friends were other closeted gays.

Bullying is always a subject that comes up when talking about high school. Did you have to deal with bullying?
Perez: A little bit, but nothing excessive, thankfully.

What is something you know now, that you wished you would have known when you were 17?
Perez: That it’s a lot harder to get in shape when you’re older, so start at a young age.

What was the biggest event that happened in your life when you were 17?
Perez: Graduating high school.

Back then, did you ever think you’d be where you are now?
Perez: No, I never even dreamt this when I started my website. I’m living more than my dreams.

What advice do you have for 17 year old kids today?
Perez: Study hard, go to college, don’t do drugs, and practice safe sex.

Why do you think people will enjoy this show?
Perez: Because you get to see different sides of people that you think you might know about, but you get to see them from a different perspective.

Besides your website, do you have any other projects you’re working on? Music? Movies?
Perez: I am working on a lot of musical projects and I hope to launch them very soon.

Don’t forget to tune into the premiere this Saturday at 11am EST!
