–Jesse McCartney is busy promoting his new movie, Beware the Gonzo. The movie premiered this week at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Jesse sat down with AP Red to chat about the movie, singing and acting and more.
On his character “Gavin Reilly”: “He’s [Gavin] the antagonist of the film. He’s an extremely bright, affluent, Parker Prep golden boy who kind of has it all going for him. He’s the senior editor of the Parker Prep Courier, which is the high school newspaper.
On staying out of the tabloids: “I have a good publicity team…[laughs] Just kidding! For me, at the end of the day, the one thing I know I’m going to show up for is my job. I just love it so much. There’s nothing else I’d rather be doing, and people will pay me for it…it’s insane. I do have an amazing group around me making that happen. I had a good family. I was raised by some good people. They help me keep it together.
On if he’ll ever combine his acting with his singing: “I don’t know. That’s a good question. I would love to start writing for films. That would be huge and fun. I’ve been approached about it for a couple movies this year. So, I might do a bit of composing. For me, it’s been a balancing act trying to keep them as separate as possible just because they’re two totally separate identities. Who knows…High School Musical 4? [laughs] I don’t know, I have no idea. I’m just living day to day.
