Cody Linley showed off his Wii skills at the Launch of “Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll” at Hiro Lounge at The Maritime Hotel in NYC on Wednesday. Cody is the spokesperson for the new game.

He shared with USA Today, “I’ve always loved Super Monkey Ball and when they told me they needed a spokesperson for the new game, I said sure. I’m totally excited to talk about the game. … Everybody can play it. It is fun for the whole family. It’s not a gory game. It’s not a complicated game. It’s just exciting and fun.”

In the game, players can use the Wii remote and nunchuk, as well as the Wii balance board in playing the game, which has 70 different puzzles from 10 new game worlds. The game also has a new cooperative mode and 21 multiplayer minigames including Monkey Bowling, Monkey Race and Seesaw Ball.

How old were you when you started playing video games?

I’ve played video games since I was two years old. I have four brothers and video games are just a thing I can do to relax and have a good time.

What was your favorite game growing up?
I would say Street Fighter II on Super Nintendo. I remember getting my butt kicked by my older brothers. I remember the older I got, the more experienced I got at the game and once I learned a special move and once I got Ken, my favorite character, nobody could beat me. I don’t know when that game came out (1991), but I remember being extremely young. I’m 20 now, so I had to be like four or five years old probably. I remember playing the original Nintendo, too (and) Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! and Donkey Kong. But, yeah, I started learning video games at a very young age. I love playing now, I play with my friends, my family, my girlfriend. We have a good time.

Favorite game now?
I’ve been playing Wii Sports Resort a lot. We like playing archery and bowling, stuff like that.

Game style: “Twitch or think?”
I mostly like to play multiplayer and sports games, not too much the long story game modes. I have other hobbies. I’ll play video games for a little while, but usually I like to be able to do social things.

A certain high score or achievement you are proud of?

I got 230 in bowling on Wii Sports Resort. It’s fun. When you get those strikes it’s like ‘Alright!’

“Last night I played …?”
Actually I played Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll. I played it all day yesterday and the day before that and the day before that. Since I’m spokesperson I get extra privileges. I’ll probably be playing it tonight.

“I’m looking forward to playing…”
The Army of Two sequel (Army of Two: The 40th Day) is a coop game. I like to play that with my brother.
