Review: ’10 Things I Hate About You’ Volume 1 DVD

“10 Things I Hate About You” was one of the breakout shows in 2009 and now it’s on DVD! You’ll get to rewatch all the action from the first 10 episodes to get you ready for the next 10 when they premiere this Spring.

Critics and fans alike were skeptical if a TV adaptation of the cult-classic teen movie would be a good idea, however, with witty writing and great casting, this show works. In the first 10 episodes, we see Bianca (Meaghan Martin) trying to become a cheerleader and befriending queen bee Chastity (Dana Davis), Kat (Lindsey Shaw) fighting off and giving in to her attraction to the mysterious Patrick Verona (Ethan Peck), and loveable yet goofy Cameron (Nicholas Braun) trying his hardest to win over Bianca. We can only imagine what’s in store for the next 10 episodes.

The DVD features all 10 episodes from the first half of Season 1, plus a great blooper reel. One of our favorites is when Kyle Kaplan takes a fall during the house party scene. Shows should start bringing back blooper reels after each episode like they did with “Home Improvement.” The DVD also features a set visit with Meaghan Martin & Lindsey Shaw and a “10 Thinges I Hate vs 10 Things I Love” where the cast, along with writer Carter Covington, discuss what they love and hate about high school, the show, dating and more.

And if those bonus features weren’t enough for you, the DVD also contains the pilot episode of ABC Family’s breakout drama from last year, “Make It or Break It”, which is also now available on DVD. Be sure to tune into ABC Family this Spring for all new episodes of “10 Things I Hate About You.”
