Miley Cyrus was not on board at the time, but according to local Virginia news stations, the singer’s tour bus crashed on I-85 this morning. It happened on I-85 south near mile marker 56 in Dinwiddie County, that’s about 45-minutes south of Richmond, Virginia. VSP said 10 people were on board the bus when it went off the road and overturned. Another source is saying there were 15 passengers on board. The singer was not on board and is not on the scene of the accident.

One person died, another sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash. State Police are not confirming the identities of the injured but CBS 6’s Wayne Covil was told that the person who died was the driver of the bus.

VSP says the roads were wet from heavy rain Thursday night, but they are not blaming the weather for the crash.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Update: Official statement from Miley Cyrus via her website: We are deeply saddened by the loss of Bill ‘Uncle Bill’ Douglas. Members of our tour are like members of our family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family in the midst of this tragedy. He will truly be missed. The Cyrus Family.
