Fans Can Expect “Eclipse” To Be Darker

MTV recently chatted with Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene & screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg to get the inside scoop on The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Fans can expect the third installment to be dark and gory with David Slade in the director’s seat.

“David has a darker sensibility, so it clicks,” Rosenberg told E! Online. “The story has a slightly darker tone. I mean, it goes into a full-out battle, so it is darker in the nature of what it is. David was the perfect director for it.” Check out more of the article below:

Slade, who follows Chris Weitz and Catherine Hardwicke in the director’s chair for the franchise, may be putting his slant on the story, but fans will still find common ground between “Eclipse” and the other two flicks already shot in the “Twilight Saga.” “They have the continuity of having the same writers and same actors, but the directors put their own stamp on it,” Rosenberg added. “They’ll be similar, but very different.”

Rosenberg’s comments about the film echo what stars Ashley Greene and Taylor Lautner have shared with MTV News about what the “Hard Candy” and “30 Days of Night” director has in mind for “Eclipse.”

“I think it’ll be different,” Greene said. “He’s … a little more focused on it being real and maybe it being gorier and a little dark and kind of dramatic. … There’s going to be a lot more focus on [action], and the fight scene will have more emphasis on it. I definitely think it will be a little more guy-friendly.”

Lautner agreed, saying they are “bumping it up another level” this time around. “[Slade’s] a lot different, but I think he’s going to add a cool taste to the movie,” he explained. “It might be a little darker.”
