-“10 Things I Hate About You” star Nicholas Braun recently visited Seventeen Magazine to open up about high school, wanting a girlfriend and working with Meaghan Martin. He even talked about a fun twitter encounter he had with a lucky fan. Check it out below.
17: Thanks for tweeting at us today!
Nicholas Braun: Yeah, no problem! Twitter is so crazy. I actually just met up with one of my Twitter followers at Chipotle and had a burrito with her just now.
17: How did that happen?
NB: A week ago, I tweeted about being in the city. This girl was like, “I’ll bring you a Chipotle burrito and meet you in Times Square at 3 p.m.!” And I was like, “You’re crazy, I’m not going to do that!” But I guess she did, and there were like 20 people that met up with her who had seen her tweets. I felt really bad for standing her up, even though I never said I was going to meet her. So I told her that I’d be in the city again, and that we could meet up for Chipotle then. She was a really nice girl — we just sat there and ate and talked for 20 minutes.
17: That’s adorable! So tell us about working on 10 Things I Hate About You.
NB: I keep telling people this, but it’s the best job I’ve ever had. Everybody is perfectly cast. Meaghan (Martin) is a blast to work with — she’s super-talented. And I get to do so many awkward, weird interactions! I’m pretty far from the character I play, so it’s fun to mess around and be a 15-year-old again.
17: Then what are you like in real life?
NB: I’m a little less naive when it comes to relationships. I’m not as nervous and scared of girls as Cameron is in the show. He has a really tough time knowing what to do, and he fails so many times. And Cameron is very academic — he’s in the AV club, chess club, and plays in the marching band. I don’t really dabble in too much of that.
17: What did you do in high school?
NB: I was in the drama club, and I was one of seven co-presidents of the student body. Students elected me, I don’t know why! There were only 330 kids in my high school, though, so it wasn’t a lot of kids to impress or reign over. It was my height, too! They were like, we need a tall leader. So I fulfilled that.
17: Do you have a girlfriend right now?
NB: I don’t have a girlfriend. But I think I want one right now, just to counter-balance all the work and being on the show. It would be nice to have someone to go back to, a girl to call at the end of the night after a long day.
17: Do you have a crush on any of your co-stars?
NB: I like my co-stars a lot, and we have a pretty cute cast. But for now, we’re just working well together. Meaghan and I have some good chemistry, though — I will say that.
