-Award show season is upon us and it’s almost time for the announcement of the Oscar nominations. “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” has 11 songs eligible for the Best Original Song category. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will screen clips featuring each song, in random order, on January 6. Members will then vote to determine which songs should be nominated for Oscars. The nominations will be announced on January 22nd and the ceremony is February 22.

“Just Getting Started”, “The Boys Are Back”, “Can I Have This Dance”, and “A Night To Remember” are among the songs from the High School Musical 3 soundtrack that can be nominated. Other contenders include: “The Call” from The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, “Down To Earth” from WALL-E, “The Traveling Song” from Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, and “I Thought I Lost You” from Bolt.

In total, 49 songs songs are eligible for nomination. With High School Musical 3 representing almost 23% of the songs by themselves, it would be surprising if they didn’t walk away with at least one nomination.
