First Look: Robert Pattinson in ‘The Rover’

robertpattinson-rover-031313Robert Pattinson is trading in the werewolves and vampires for some adventure and the Outback in his latest movie The Rover!

The first image for the film was released today via EW and it looks like Robert has gotten himself into a sticky situation.

The Rover is set in the Australian desert in a dangerous and dysfunctional near future. Eric (Guy Pearce) has left everything and every semblance of human kindness behind him. When his last possession, his car, is stolen by a gang of dangerous criminals, Eric sets off to track them down and is forced along the way to enlist the help of Reynolds, the naive member of the gang left behind in the bloody chaos of the gang’s most recent escape.

Robert plays a denizen of the Outback in the near future, after a worldwide financial collapse has sent many like him running to the still viable mines of the Australian desert.

“The basic story is really quite elemental,” says director David Michôd. “You’ve got a really dark, dangerous, murderous person in Guy’s character, and in Rob’s character you have a quite troubled and damaged, but beautiful and naïve, soul.”

Lily Collins and Michael Angarano: New ‘The English Teacher’ Stills

lilycollins-theenglishteacher-031213Michael Angarano reads over Lily Collins’ shoulder in this new still from The English Teacher.

The flick also stars Julianne Moore, Greg Kinnear, and Nathan Lane. Linda Sinclair (Julianne Moore) is a forty-year-old unmarried high school English teacher in the small town of Kingston, Pennsylvania. She shares a small apartment with two Siamese cats and her rich collection of great literature. She maintains no close personal relationships aside from those she has with her favorite authors and stories. Her life is far less complicated than the dramas she devours on the page, and she likes it that way.

But Linda’s simple life turns an unexpected page when former star pupil Jason Sherwood (Michael Angarano) returns to Kingston after trying to make it as a playwright in New York. Now in his 20s, Jason is on the verge of abandoning art, pressured by his overbearing father, Dr. Tom Sherwood (Greg Kinnear), to face reality and go to law school. Linda can’t stand the thought of Jason giving up on his dreams so she decides to mount his play – a dark, angst-ridden, ambitious work – as a Kingston High School production, with flamboyant drama teacher Carl Kapinas (Nathan Lane) directing.

As Linda, now well out of her normal comfort zone, takes further risks in life and love, the stage is set for highly comic downfall. With the play, her reputation, and her teaching career on the line, Linda finds an unlikely ally in herself. Amidst the ruins of her formerly perfect life, can she find a way to her own unique storybook ending?

The film opens on demand and digital platforms on April 16th and in theaters May 17th.

Rebel Wilson and Channing Tatum Go For A Wild Drive in MTV Movie Awards Promo (Video)

channing-rebel-031213What happens when you put Rebel Wilson and Channing Tatum together? Awesomeness!

The duo teamed up for a hilarious promo video for the 2013 MTV Movie Awards which Rebel will be hosting. Channing has played all kinds of roles but we love seeing him as an action hero and that’s what we, sort of, get in the promo.

It looks like Channing and Rebel are trying to save the world and Rebel needs to get better position in the car in order to fire off a shot. Rebel, we would have picked that spot too!

Also, Rebel tweeted that she is trying to get the Pitch Perfect cast to reunite for a performance on stage and we NEED this to happen! We are still obsessed with that movie. She tweeted, “I’ve been talking to the Pitch Perfect cast about reuniting for a number at MTV Movie Awards..aca-let’s CRUSH IT.”

We can’t wait to see what else the funny Rebel Wilson has up her sleeves for the awards show which airs on Sunday, April 14 at 9pm on MTV.

Selena Gomez and Ashley Benson: ‘Spring Breakers’ Panel at SXSW

springbreakers-panel-031113After a big premiere at SXSW on Sunday, the cast of Spring Breakers sat down for a special Q&A on Monday.

Selena Gomez and Ashley Benson were joined by Rachel & Harmony Korine for the “Break It Down: Harmony Korine & His Spring Breakers” during the 2013 SXSW Music, Film + Interactive Festival at Austin Convention Center.

During the panel, the girls broke out in a little rendition of Britney Spears’ “Hit Me Baby One More Time.” It turned into a karaoke moment for Selena who nailed it!

Speaking of Selena & singing, it looks like she will now be a solo act on her upcoming album, no longer Selena Gomez & the Scene. Also, according to MTV Hot News, her new single “Better Without You” is set to release on March 18 and was co-written by none other than Taylor Swift. We have a feeling this will be a good breakup anthem!
