Exclusive: Lily Collins & Alex Sharp Discuss ‘To The Bone’ Controversy & Reveal First Impressions

Lily Collins has recently opened up about her struggle with eating disorders and now she stars in To The Bone a movie she hopes sparks conversation and helps people.

The movie, which originally premiered at Sundance to rave reviews, was written by Marti Noxon and is based on her own struggles with the disease. Once the trailer hit the web a few months ago, it immediately sparked controversy and received backlash from people claiming it contained triggers and romanticized the disease.

We sat down with Lily and her co-star Alex Sharp and she responded to the criticism saying, “everyone’s just seen a 2 minute and 30 second trailer. Unfortunately that doesn’t show the entirety of the movie and all the depth and nuances of the film. Marti and I having experienced this first hand, we would never seek out to make a film that glamorized, fetishized or encouraged a disorder that is so horrible and something that we experienced ourselves.”
