Is Channing Tatum’s childhood dream coming true?
The actor has long said that he would love to play Gambit in X-Men and he revealed to MTV this year that he’s actually met with producers about the role in an upcoming X-Men feature/spinoff. “I met with Lauren Shuler Donner. I would love [to]. Gambit’s really the only X-Men that I’ve ever loved. I love them all. They’re all great. I don’t know,” he said. “I guess being from down south… I just related to him. He’s the most un-X-Men X-Men that’s ever been in X-Men, other than maybe Wolverine.”
Well, now it looks like Channing’s dream is becoming a reality. At the UK premiere of X-Men: Days of Future Past last night, Lauren Shuler Donner basically confirmed that Channing is in fact Gambit. When asked what kind of actor she’d want to fill the role because Channing’s name had been thrown around, she immediately responded saying “Yes, it’s Channing. I’ll develop it with Channing.” She then went on to say why Channing is a good fit for the role. “He’s a rogue. Channing, he’s a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau,” Donner said. “And he can handle the action. We all know that. And he’s got a really good heart.”
We’ve been waiting to see Channing take on a superhero role and Gambit is one of our personal favorites. (No, we’re not counting GI Joe as a superhero).
What do you think of Channing as Gambit?
