Daniel Sharman Not Returning for Season 4 of “Teen Wolf”

danielsharman-teenwolf-032514Just when we were starting to accept the fact that Crystal Reed will no longer be on “Teen Wolf,” the MTV show delivers another blow!

On last night’s season 3 finale, another fan favorite character was killed off and another returned! Warning: Stop reading now if you don’t want to know what happened!

To sum it up, thanks to the divine move and some fancy fighting, Stiles was finally freed of void Stiles but not without some injuries. Looks like Scott’s mom among others suffered injury but one fatal blow was delivered to Aiden (Max Carver) who sacrificed himself to kill one of the Onis. He ended up dying in Ethan’s arms. How will Lydia handle this news? She just suffered the loss of her best friend and now her lover?

Another big shocker at the end of the episode was the return of Kate Argent who not only shot Derek but returned as a werewolf, but not a normal werewolf. We’ll have to see how that pans out in season 4.

One character/actor who will also not be returning for season 4 is Daniel Sharman who plays Isaac. Just like Crystal Reed, it looks like it was Daniel’s choice to leave the show to pursue other things. Executive Producer Jeff Davis revealed to E! “Isaac is not returning next season. That’s going to be a big surprise for a lot of people.”

“Daniel Sharman came to us, much like Crystal did, and said that he wanted to go out for pilot season and for movies and try something new,” Davis says. Daniel did have one request when it came to leaving the show, though. Unlike Allison, he didn’t want Isaac to be killed off.

“He specifically asked that we not kill off Isaac, so that he could have the chance to return. He said he loved the role so much that he wanted to be able to come back if there was a chance,” Davis reveals. “But he was at a position where he wanted to stretch his creative wings and I said to him, ‘Well, if we can’t convince you to come back, we’ll definitely leave the door open for you.’ It was totally his decision, but he really loves the show. He sends me the nicest texts in the world. He loves the show and he specifically asked not to be killed off, so that he could come back someday. Whether it’s the fourth season or later, I would say there’s a good possibility of it.”

He continued, “I totally respect an actor who says, ‘Time to move on and I want to try other things and try other roles and maybe do movies and theater,'” Davis says. “In a show like this, we were always bringing in new blood, so it was a struggle because part of me wants to say to Daniel, ‘Please stay, we love you.’ But I think he has to do what’s best for him. I’m just glad that he came to us to talk about it honestly instead of a few weeks before season four started production.”

So how exactly will Isaac’s departure be explained when season 4 returns in June? Davis shared that Isaac and Argent (JR Bourne), Allison’s father, headed off to France at the end of the season three finale. “The story is going to be that Argent sort of takes a sabbatical in France to deal with the death of his daughter and Isaac goes with him, that’s why you see them leaving out the door.”

So what do you think of Daniel’s departure? Keep in mind, he was never actually a season regular even though he appeared in the majority of the season. Were you shocked by who was killed off and who returned to “Teen Wolf”? Don’t forget that season 4 returns this June.
