The fun continued at Paleyfest on Saturday evening with the cast and produces of The CW’s hit show “The Vampire Diaries.”
Producers Julie Plec & Caroline Dries were joined by stars Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev & Paul Wesley for a chat that brought probably the loudest screams in all of this year’s Paleyfest panels. Ian became the first actor to have two shows honored in one year at Paleyfest. He attended the 10th anniversary “Lost” panel last week.
The panel consisted of tons of screams, asks for photos and talk about Katherine’s death and the challenges of playing doppelgangers.
Check out some highlights:
-Fans want a Delena rain kiss but Ian & Nina aren’t big fans since the last time they filmed a rain scene, their faces froze and there were icicles in Nina’s hair.
-On the subject of if there’s hope for Damon & Elena to really get back together, Ian answered, “why would you ever wish this on this great human being?” Julie said she wants to play their relationship as human as possible. Things keep getting in the way of their “grown up” conversations.
-Nina gave Paul a present to congratulate him on directing his first episode. It ended up being a big portrait of Nina along with a card that said “…[this is to] remind you of where you started, where we began and what’s most important.” The portrait now hangs in Paul’s dressing room.
-Julie revealed that most new characters are made to die. When it comes to whether a death really sticks on the show, they revealed that sometimes it depends on the fandom, the writers’ attachment to the character or if someone wants to leave the show.
-When asked if Elena will ultimately end up with Stefan or Damon, Nina responded with “I think after everything these guys have put her through, she should just become a lesbian.”
-Will there be more Caroline & Stefan? Julie said they have a lot to do with each other in the next few episodes. Paul revealed that he’s rooting for more of Caroline & Stefan.
-What does the future hold for Stelena? Caroline teased that there’s some good Stelena stuff coming in the episode that Paul directed. Paul added that it will be nostalgic of what you saw in season 1.
