The Dolby Theatre was full of vampires on Saturday evening as the casts of “The Originals” and “The Vampire Diaries” filled the venue.
For only the second time, Paleyfest honored two shows in one night and first up was “The Originals.” Cast members Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Claire Holt, Phoebe Tonkin, Charles Michael Davis, Leah Pipes & Danielle Campbell took the stage alongside executive producers Julie Plec & Michael Narducci. The crowd went wild for all the cast members and in between fans asking for photos and to touch Daniel Gillies’ hero hair, the cast discussed the future of the show, played kill marry kiss and Claire discussed why she left the show.
Here are some highlights from the panel:
-Leah Pipes joked about always trying to be charming and nice to everyone on set so she doesn’t get killed off.
-Claire revealed that she was happy with Rebekah’s exit from the show. When asked if she’ll be back, Claire said “As far as I’m concerned, this is a temporary hiatus. I’m taking a little vacation in the sun but I’m going to return to my New Orleans family…I just want to make it clear to everyone that these incredibly talented writers did not run out of story. They never will. I wasn’t pushed out, I didn’t quit mid-season. This is something we discussed from the start and I completed my initial commitment and I made a life choice, not a career choice. I made a choice to come home for a little while…” She also said she’s not ready to let go of Rebekah so we definitely think she’ll be back.
-When Phoebe was asked to play kiss, marry, kill with Klaus, Elijah & Jackson, she chose to kill Klaus, marry Elijah and kiss Jackson because he’s “very handsome.”
-When asked if there’d be another crossover between “The Originals” and “The Vampire Diaries,” Julie said “yes, maybe, I don’t know” which makes us think this is a yes!
-A fan asked Claire if during her vacation she’d go to Mystic Falls aka “The Vampire Diaries.” Claire responded saying “there’s a very handsome quarterback who lives in Mystic Falls. Potentially Mexico, California, Europe again, anything. I like that idea.”
