Miley Cyrus Kisses Katy Perry, Duets with The Flaming Lips & Belts Her Heart Out at Bangerz Tour in Los Angeles

mileycyrus-bangerzla-022314Miley Cyrus and her much-talked-about Bangerz Tour rolled into the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Saturday and it did not disappoint.

Yes, the show is definitely different from those of you who saw her as Hannah Montana or even on her Gypsy Heart Tour. There is more twerking, more f-bombs and more raunch, but one thing that hasn’t disappeared is Miley’s ability to sing and entertain. During her 20+ song set, Miley proved she is a seasoned performer even though some of her talent does get hidden behind the onstage antics like giant puppets and a massive dog.

Miley kicked off the show by sliding down a giant tongue and performed mainly songs from her latest album. She did throw in “Can’t Be Tamed” and “Party in the USA” (her closing number) which were crowd pleasers. Miley skipped her usual set song “FU” in order to bring out special guests Wayne and Steven from the Flaming Lips to perform “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.” The duet took place during Miley’s short set at the back of the arena and the two had a few mishaps during the song and decided to perform it twice. While most of the crowd weren’t familiar with the song, everyone seemed to be having a blast.

Another stand out moment was during “Adore You” when a kiss cam roamed the audience encouraging people to kiss when it landed on them. In the middle of the song, Miley jumped off stage and for those not in the front row, it was hard to tell what was going on. When she returned to the stage, she stated “I kissed a girl and I liked it.” Turns out that Katy Perry was near the front row and the two planted a little smooch on each other during the song.

Other celebrities in attendance included Harry Styles, Hilary Duff, Max George, Joel Madden, Nicole Richie, Sarah Paulson, Maia Mitchell, Peyton List, and many more.
