It looks like another beloved ABC Family show will not be returning.
The network has decided to cancel “Bunheads” after just one season. Even though the show was critically acclaimed (Sutton Foster recently received a Critic’s Choice TV Award nomination), the show failed to bring in the viewership it needed.
The show, along with “The Lying Game,” were on the bubble as the network waited to see how new shows “The Fosters” and “Twisted” faired. Both have been doing well in the ratings with “The Fosters” continuing to grow each week.
“‘Bunheads’ is a wonderful series that we are very proud to have aired,” the network said in a statement. “The series had amazing storytelling, the most talented cast and a passionate and loyal fan base. Recognizing all of this, we took extra time to try and find ways to bring the series back for another season, but in the end it simply wasn’t possible. We wish the cast and crew the best in their future endeavors.”
