The Hunger Games has been dominating the box office, but the franchise was shaken up when director Gary Ross confirmed he would not return to direct the sequel Catching Fire.
So who will step up to the plate to fill Ross’ shoes? According to THR, Lionsgate has been meeting with a number of directors. They include Bennett Miller (Moneyball) and Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend).
THR reports that Lawrence has been deemed the front-runner because he has an open schedule while Miller is set to work on Foxcatcher starting in December which could run close to the December 20 date that Lionsgate hopes to have Catching Fire done filming by so Jennifer Lawrence can begin shooting the X-Men: First Class sequel in July.
