Before David Archuleta heads off on his mission trip, he’s planning on testing his acting skills overseas.
David has landed a role in a TV series on the Philippines’ TV5 network. A statement from TV5 reads, “The signing of an international star of Archuleta’s youth and talent, arguably in his prime, is bound to shake up the Philippine entertainment industry.”

David also took time to address the news in his first vlog of 2012. He writes, “Headed to the Philippines later today [Wednesday]! I’ll be arriving this week to start a new adventure in acting haha. I’m nervous, but also really excited to try this new experience. I’ll be doing a mini-series for TV5 and will be filming in the Philippines for the next few weeks. Hope everyone has had a good start to their year and I’ll talk to you guys when I arrive in Manila!”
He later tweeted after his arrival, “Hey guys, if you want to follow what’s going on during this Philippines trip, you can go to FollowArchuleta.ph for updates and stuff!”
