In documents filed in Los Angeles, Brand cites “irreconcilable differences” for the split. The news comes following weeks of speculation about the state of the couple’s marriage, which went into overdrive a week ago when it became clear Brand and Perry would not be spending Christmas together.
Instead, both were pictured without their wedding rings – Perry on vacation in Hawaii and Brand in London.
In a statement announcing the sad news, Brand writes, “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”
The pair wed in India in October, 2010.
